To whom it may concern.
I’m writing to enquire about any positions that might be/become available in your service, for an experienced Substance Use worker; my specialty is working with ChemSex patients/clients (over 300 clients in my time with Antidote and partnership organization). I’m hoping this might be of use in a service such as yours, given the increasing trends.
More details are included in my CV (attached), but to summarise my experience/skills are as follows;
- Six years with Antidote London Friend, LGBT drug/alcohol service Including outreach (and honorary contracts) in settings that include;
• NHS sexual health services (Code at 56 Dean Street, Chelsea and Westminster hospital NHS Foundation Trust)
• Club Drug Clinic CNWL NHS Foundation Trust
• CAPS (Community Assessment and Primary Service, CNWL NHS Foundation Trust)
• Turning Point UK South Westminster drug & alcohol services
- Responsibilities/skills;
• Personally providing keywork sessions with over 300 vulnerable clients.
• Group facilitation/group therapies
• Assessments and allocation to therapies/referrals to detox/rehab/sexual health/mental health
• Risk assessments (including NDTMS & TOPS) and Care Plans
• Participation in individual & group supervision
• Management of drop in spaces
• Sexual health/sexual behaviour advice/support/referrals
• Motivational interviewing, counselling and CBT skills
• Training for colleagues around crystal methamphetamine, GHB/GBL, mephedrone, and ChemSex
• Volunteer recruitment/induction
• All appropriate admin skills, computer skills.
• Team work, responsibility, punctuality, communication skills, empathy, boundaries, clinical governance, an understanding of complex behaviours and people.

I’m aware that the substance misuse sector is undergoing some changes, particularly in regard to drug trends (Novel Psychoactive Substances), and changes in drug using populations; I hope that my experience and skill set stand me in good stead to make a worthy contribution to your service, and would be very pleased for any position/appointment or reply you could make.
