Candidate Details

As a biomedical science I have always been keen on the microbiology side of things, before I picked my degree I actually initially wanted to work in the food industry so this is a great opportunity for me. Even though I have no ‘work related’ experience for the role I have 3 years of Lab experience which I gained at Uni which I believe is just as good as I have basically been In and out labs for 3 years. Since the beginning of Year 1 at Uni we were taught the fundamentals and techniques to work in a lab. I have the experience of performing techniques like ELISA, PCR, Gel electrophoresis, Liquid and Gas chromatography. I have also dealt with an experiment very much similar to the role I have applied for where I had to test Chicken, Duck and Turkey samples for campylobacter, Listeria, E.coli, and salmonella present. We carried out the experiment via culturing and aseptic techniques. We also did plate counts and serial dilutions followed by Gram staining.

I believe a student has to start their career somewhere and I would be fit for the role as this is something I most certainly need to make my dreams come true and eventually become a biomedical scientist along the path.
