A children and families centre (non statutory) in East London requires a family practitioner to start ASAP. It is essential for this role that the applicant is educated to NVQ level 3 in social care/parenting and family work or a related field or QSW social worker is essential. Previous experience working with disadvantaged children and families and providing parental support/parenting groups is also essential. Previous experience of coaching, mentoring and/or training would be beneficial. The successful applicant will be supporting parents/carers of children 0-11 to increase knowledge of their child’s development and potential, strengthening relationships between parents, carers, children and professionals. Providing positive learning opportunities that meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation and running parenting classes and workshops. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Chief Research Advisor to work at what will be an industry-leading facility focusing predominantly on women's and children's health. Scheduled to open in 2012 in Doha, Qatar, the facility will include medical services as well as clinical research and education arms. This exciting project is currently in development and planning stage and a consultant is required to provide formal advice and input into the development and implementation of the services to be provided.

As the Chief Research Advisor you will develop a research strategic plan for the facility; develop a research framework and program; and lead the recruitment of key researchers. You will develop strategic liaisons and partnerships with local, regional and international researchers. You will also lead the state-of-the-art facility Research function and ensure the execution of cutting-edge research. In addition, the Chief Research Advisor will be involved in fostering collaboration of research opportunities with Qatar Foundation, integration of biomedical research across Education City, representing the facility at national and international levels, coordination with the Qatar Science and Technology Park, and participating in research committees and initiatives in Qatar. You will serve on and provide support to the health related Boards and Committees in Qatar, including those of the National Health Authority, Hamad Medical Center and Qatar University.

This role requires the skills and experience of a Chief Research Advisor with the following qualifications:

Doctorate Degree in health, medical, research or related field, or equivalent.
Ability to successfully further the mission of the Medical center and increase research reputation regionally and internationally.
Proven leader, with strong managerial ability and understanding of complex research and development strategies and practices.
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and strategically in a multicultural team environment with all levels of professional, technical and administrative staff.
Excellent interpersonal, organisational and technical written and oral communications skills, particularly in relation to reporting and dissemination of major research study results and applications.
High degree of administrative, operational and clinical/medical knowledge and expertise.
Demonstrated ability to complete research projects within established timeframes.

The sector has gamma cameras including two SPECT-CT double headed gamma cameras, cell labelling facilities, non-imaging equipment and a Hologics DEXA scanner. The work load is large and varied and includes imaging, non-imaging and therapeutic administrations of radioisotopes and a large DEXA workload including fracture liaison and direct access service.

You must be able to demonstrate evidence of significant experience in nuclear medicine or imaging. You must be a state registered clinical scientist on the register of the Health Professions Council. Membership of IPEM, at least at corporate level is expected.
